Apprenticeships Arena

Other places to find opportunities...

Whilst the best place to look for apprenticeships in the UK is the Gov.uk apprenticeships website, there are some other places where you might be able to find opportunities:

  • Local Newspapers

information.gif  The Reading Chronicle is the biggest local newspaper and they adverstise jobs on their website as well as in print.

  • Job Centre Plus (JCP)

information.gif  If you already have a JCP advisor helping you job search, they should be able to help you with an apprenticeships application.

information.gif If you think JCP could help you, get in touch with your local JCP and ask about apprenticeships help.

  • College or school advisers

information.gif If you are in education there should be a careers adviser in your institution who can help you. They will advise you on your options and support you in the application process and through the interview.

  • Paragon

information.gif A national apprenticeship provider which covers a range of industries and sectors. Visit the Paragon Skills website here.

  • Directly Contacting Employers

information.gif If you know somewhere that you would like to do an apprenticeship, but can't find a specific placement, then don't worry! You can always contact the employer directly and ask - politely - if they would consider taking you on.

information.gif This will involve contacting a member of the HR team, or a high up member of staff, and sending them a CV and cover letter or speaking to them directly. You must show how enthusiastic and passionate you are about their company. Even if they haven't got an opportunity, they'll be impressed that you took the initiative to go to them and ask!
